Rožňava makes a good base for a whole week
Rožňava lies beside the Slovak Karst National Park. The caves around it are on the UNESCO World Heritage list: Domica, Gombasek, Krásna Hôrka, the Ochtinská Aragonite Cave and the Dobšinská Ice Cave. Head north for the Slovak Paradise, east for Krásna Hôrka castle, and Betliar manor is only a few kilometres out of town.

Rožňava on foot
The main square is about 600 metres away. It is a perfect square with the Renaissance Watchtower in the middle, which you can climb for the view. Nearby are the Church of the Assumption, the Mining Museum and the Natural History Museum, the Calvary hill and the Kaltenecker brewery, which offers tours and tastings.
In summer the town's outdoor pool is about 100 metres from the guesthouse, and in winter there is skating next to it. There are tennis courts nearby too.

What can we do when it rains?
Visit a cave, Betliar manor, one of the museums in Rožňava or take a tour of the Kaltenecker brewery. Warm up in the sauna in the evening.
Where can we swim?
In summer at the town's outdoor pool about 100 metres away, at the natural swimming pool in Tornaľa, or in the thermal water at Číž spa.
